- Abstract:
This experiment aims to investigate the implementation of vacuum membrane distillation for NH3 recovery from dyestuff wastewater. The main effects of operating parameters on ammonia recovery from synthetic wastewater have been investigated. Main parameter experimental results showed that high feed pH (13), high feed temperatures (50°C) , high initial feed concentrations (6000 ppm) and lower vacuum pressure (-40 kPa) enhance ammonia removal and recovery efficiency. The pH is found out to be the main driven parameters for ammonia recovery using vacuum membrane distillation. Optimum parameter experiment and additional optimum parameter experiment agreed high pH and lower vacuum pressure give the best result for recovery ammonia using VMD. Optimum parameter experiment resulted pH 13, Temperature 70 °C and Vacuum Pressure -40 kPa give optimum result in ammonia recovery using VMD. Meanwhile, additional optimum parameter experiment resulted pH 13, Temperature 30°C and Vacuum Pressure -40 kPa give optimum result in ammonia recovery using VMD. The dyestuff wastewater removal and recovery ammonia using optimum parameter resulted ammonia removal percentage was 58% with recovery percentage 25% within 6th Hours experiment. However, removal and recovery ammonia using additional optimum parameter resulted ammonia removal percentage was 70.49% with recovery percentage 31% within 19th hours experiment. Cost benefit pilot plant for ammonia recovery can give company around 141,779,687 NTD each month.
